Chris Bladen Giant Bar Throated Apalis

Bar-throated-apalis Bronze Sculpture

Anthobaphes violacea

These stunning little birds were regular visitors in the milkwood trees around the house on the Breede river where my family and I spent our time during the Covid lockdown. I was lucky to be able to study the bar-throated apalis up close daily. The branch that the bird is sitting on is part of a shrubs root system. Part of my ‘upside down world’ series.
